About

Hi, my name is Simone Glasson-Walls

AHPRA Registration Number: PSY0001842026

I am a registered psychologist and Narcissistic Abuse Recovery Counsellor. I am an experienced counsellor, with a 30-year history in providing counselling services for individuals with a range of concerns. I have a deep passion for providing psychology services for highly empathic adult survivors of narcissistic abuse.

For over a decade I have been providing psychology services Australia wide via face to face and Telehealth. I have worked in front-line mental health services across the lifespan; with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing severe complex mental health needs. This includes providing mental health and psychology services within emergency departments, suicide prevention, rural and remote mental health, mental health triage services and a range of community and outreach home base mental health services. For the past five years I have worked in private practice specialising in helping people recover from the effects of Narcissistic Abuse.

Prior to becoming a Psychologist, I spent fifteen years employed as a youth work practitioner, providing support and counselling services to street present and homeless children and young people in Sydney and Perth who had left traumatic home environments; and subsequently, a further five years training specialising in treating addictions. I’ve held numerous tertiary lecturing positions training practitioners and counsellors in mental health, youth work and addictions. I currently provide a range of consultancy, training and supervision services within the community, counselling, mental health, and youth work industry sector.

Background and qualifications

As a counsellor who has worked with abuse survivors for over three decades, I’ve communicated with hundreds of clients who have been affected by narcissistic abuse from narcissistic individuals as partners, friends, parents, family members, co-workers, or even bosses.

Narcissistic abuse is a confusing, destabilising, and traumatic relational experience to go through. What can be very challenging to a person who has been subjected to this abuse, is that narcissistic abuse can start off as very subtle and difficult to identify or articulate and can happen to anyone. Clients who are in these relationships reach out to me due to experiencing significant clinical distress, confusion, negative affectivity, self-blame, isolation, and self-doubt. They present in a state of cognitive dissonance.

I am a dedicated trauma informed psychologist providing online telepsychology services Australia wide helping people find the answers, solace, and tools they need to make sense of narcissistic and other unhealthy relationships and the associated trauma to heal, recover, and become empowered.

I believe in the importance of therapy being a collaborative and relational process, involving both the client and me as a psychologist. The single most important factor in successful therapeutic outcomes (outside professional qualifications and training) is the quality of the therapeutic relationship.

With a warm and empathic approach, I endeavour for clients to feel safely seen, supported, and understood to explore and process their journey and aid healing from trauma. I enjoy helping people to become empowered while tapping into their strengths and helping them overcome many life challenges.

I am truly privileged to have the honour to work with so many amazing people in my counselling practice in the most meaningful way. I would love the opportunity to contribute to assisting you in your journey.

In my down time I enjoy spending time with family, being in nature, water skiing, having morning swims in the ocean, photography and playing squash.
